The Luther women’s tennis team earned its second sweep of an IIAC opponent in as many days with a 9-0 win over Dubuque on Saturday, September 17 in Decorah, Iowa. The Norse are now 8-2 overall while improving to 5-0 in the IIAC.
Annie Whiteley and Abby Landsness breezed past Stephanie LoCasto and Lauren Clausen by an (8-0) score at No. 2 doubles to put the Norse on the board. Laura Reutlinger and Taylor Bremer were next off the court with an (8-2) victory against Spenser Smith and Janine Wegner at No. 3. Cami Czech and Katy Lindstrom improved to 6-1 together this season with an (8-3) win over Nichole Schmaltz and Ashley Schlueter at No. 1.
Lindstrom finished off her day with a (6-0, 6-0) win against LoCasto at No. 3. Reutlinger fought off Clausen in a tight first set and won (6-4, 6-1) at No. 4. Whiteley also pulled away in the second set for a (6-3, 6-0) win over Aoi Karino at No. 5. Bremer won her first varsity singles match at No. 6, defeating Heather Watson (6-2, 6-4). Cassandra Chalhoub and Elise Allen also saw action in singles play. Chalhoub won her first match of the year at No. 1, defeating Schmaltz (6-1, 6-0). Allen maintained a perfect mark in singles, beating Schlueter (6-2, 6-0) to improve to 8-0 on the singles court.
