After a short break following the Wheaton match, the Norse took the courts against the Lake Forest Foresters. Cami Czech and Katy Lindstrom came out firing, cruising to an (8-2) win over Aimee Fadden and Grace Mullins. Annie Whiteley and Lola White-Baer also won for the first time together, defeating Nikki Yeomans and Kiersten Kolstad at No. 3 by an (8-3) tally. Elise Allen and Cassandra Chalhoub ran off the final three games to win (8-5) over Nonie Carson and Lucy Cooper at No. 2 to finish off the doubles sweep for the Norse.
White-Baer was the first one off the court in singles, racing to a (6-0, 6-0) win over Yeomans at No. 4, earning her first career singles win for Luther in the process. DePaolis accomplished the same feat with an identical (6-0, 6-0) victory against Kolstad at No. 6 to clinch the team win. Lindstrom completed a dominating showing from the bottom half of the lineup with a (6-2, 6-0) decision over Cooper at No. 5. Czech also played extremely well at No. 1, nailing down a (6-1, 6-0) win against Fadden.
Like in doubles, Allen and Chalhoub faced the tightest matches in singles, but both eventually prevailed in a third set super tie-breaker. Allen looked to be in the clear after a dominating first set, but Mullins raised her game considerably to take a tight second set. Allen grabbed a 4-2 advantage to start the super tie-breaker and earned a (6-0, 4-6, (10-5)) win to finish off a 4-0 day on the courts. Chalhoub watched Carson rally to take the first set before settling in and winning the final six games of the second set, leveling the match at No. 2. She then played a superb super tie-breaker to win (4-6, 6-1, (10-5)), also finishing off a 4-0 day.
The Norse resume action on Wednesday, Sept. 7 with a pair of matches against IIAC opponents. Half of the squad will travel to Mt. Vernon, Iowa to face the Cornell Rams, while the other half will remain in Decorah for the home opener against the Loras Duhawks.
