Regionally ranked #4 Luther extended its win streak to nine matches, following a 3-1 victory over Clarke University this afternoon in Dubuque. The win gives the Norse an overall record of 10-2-1, while Clarke fell to 8-6.
Jason Block had a big afternoon, scoring his fifth goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 60th minute and assisting on Luther's first goal by Saul Rosales (2) in the 32nd minute. Block's penalty kick was his third of the year.
James Garcia-Prats (4) scored what proved to be the game winner unassisted in the 54th minute.
Following the Rosales goal, Clarke tied the match in the 51st minute on a penalty kick. The goal was the first the Norse had allowed in over 272 minutes of action dating back to Sept. 27.
This afternoon was the final non-conference match of the year. The Norse will face five Iowa Conference opponents in the next three weeks, beginning with a match at Central College on Oct. 12 at 1:00 p.m.
