II Poverello: Exploring the Life & Deeds of St. Francis of Assisi
Reawakening the ancient through beautiful song and instrument, the Rose Ensemble illustrates artistic excellence. This joyful program honors St. Francis of Assisi, the beloved medieval saint of animals and ecology. With hymns, dances, motets, early Italian spiritual songs, and richly entertaining readings, the Rose Ensemble explores the mysteries of the life of St. Francis. Pieces are illuminated by 12 voices, harp, riqq, dumbek, hurdy gurdy, psaltery, and recorder, along with featured performer Isacco Colombo from Italy on medieval Italian bagpipes, shawm, fife and tabor.
