Luther fell to 1-2 in the Iowa Confernece, 1-4 overall after dropping a 54-20 decision to Coe College this afternoon in Cedar Rapids.The Kohawks are now 3-1 in the IIAC, 3-3 overall.
Trailing 13-7 at halftime, the Norse were outscored by the Kohawks 41-13 in the second half. The Kohawks tallied 510 yards of total offense and picked of Norse quarterback Chris Reynolds three times in the final two quarters of action.
Offensively, Luther had its best game of the season, producing 398 yards of total offense. Luther's rushing game tallied a season high 203 yards. Reynolds rushed for 81 yards, while Dan Ridenour had 70 and Alex Hain had 54.
Ridenour scored on a one-yard plunge that capped off a seven play, 76-yard drive early in the fourth quarter, Luther's final score of the afternoon.
Reynolds, who was 16-of-34 for 145 yards, connected with Dalen Dirth on touchdown passes of 17 yards early in the second quarter and on a five-yard toss late in the third.
Dirth, Steven Thompson and Matt Jaronik all had five receptions.
Trent Kerrigan led the defense with nine tackles, 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble. Kyle McGivney was credited with eight tackles and Robby Jewell had seven.
It is homecoming next week and Luther will host Buena Vista University in Carlson Stadium at 1:00 p.m. The game will be video streamed beginning at 12:40 p.m.
