Jon Gednalske scored the game winner on a header off a corner kick by J W Slauson with 23 seconds left in double overtime, that secured a 3-2 victory for No. 22 Luther over Macalester College. His goal was his fourth of the year and second game winner.
After trailing the Scots 1-0 after the first 45 minutes of play, Slauson scored his first two goals of the season in the 55th and 60th minutes, giving Luther a 2-1 lead. Macalester's Nick Sorenson leveled the match in the 81st minute unassited. Slauson's first goal was assisted by Lucas Beato and his second was the result of a corner kick he took that curved into the upper part of the Scots goal.
The victory over Macalester was the third in a row for the Norse. Luther (5-0) is also off to its best start since 1992 when the Norse went 8-0 before dropping their first match.
One week from today Luther will resume action when it will travel to UW-Superior for a match that will begin at Noon.
