Luther improved to 2-0 in the Iowa Conference defeating Central College 61-54 this afternoon in Pella.
Luther held a 10-point advantage at the end of the first half and took its final lead of the game at 6:54 of the first frame, thanks to an Anna Madrigal three-pointer, one of four by her for the afternoon.
The Norse had a balanced scoring attack as four players tallied double digits. Carrie Kilen recorded a double-double collecting a game high 11 rebounds and scoring 12 points. Madrigal led the Norse with 16, while Moran Lonning and Meagan Koepnick tallied 13 and 11 respectively. Lonning also dished out a career high nine assists.
Central was led by Alison Malaby who scored a game high 21. Tina Lane was the only other Dutch player in double digits with 10.
The victory was the ninth in a row for the Norse who are now 12-1 overall. Central fell to 0-2 in the Iowa Conference, 9-4 overall.
Luther returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. Jan. 14 when it will host University of Dubuque (2-0, 8-5). Tip-off will take place at 6:00 p.m. This game will be video streamed.
