Led by NCAA III Central Region individual runner-up Tricia Serres, Luther finished fifth this afternoon posting a team total of 176. Carleton (60) won the team title, followed by St. Olaf (81), St. Thomas (127) and Wartburg (173).
The top-two teams automatically qualified for the national championships and at 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, the NCAA will announce if any other teams from the region will be invited. After this announcement is made, then the top-seven individuals who are not on the qualifying teams, will also be invited to race at the national finale.
Saturday's individual champion was Ruth Steinke of Carleton who covered the 6,000 meter course on the campus of Central College in 21:16. Serres posted a time of 21:25 finishing five second ahead of third place Kimber Myer of Macalester.
Also earning all-region honors for the Norse by finishing in the top-35 from the field of 189 runners, was Kaia Bierman (23rd - 22:40), and Lauren Mordini (34th - 22:50).
Completing the Luther seven included McKenzie Carney (55th - 23:17), Kara Maloney (62nd - 23:31), Hannah Wright (63rd - 23:32) and Sarah Owens (81st - 23:48).
