The Luther College Jazz Band is performing a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 7th, in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall on the Luther campus.
The concert is open to the public with no charge for admission.
Directed by Jon Ailabouni, adjunct faculty in music, the Luther College Jazz Band is a 20-member group that performs throughout the academic year, including during Family Weekend, Homecoming Jazz Night at Marty's and a formal concert each semester. The concert program features various styles of music from swing to funk to mambo and will include works from Stan Kenton, Oliver Nelson, Thad Jones and Neal Hefti.
The Luther jazz combo Midnight Institute will perform "Lester Leaps In" by Lester Young. The quartet includes students Ben Ostrem and Peter Mathistad, tenor saxophone; Andrew Moore, guitar, Caleb Bendull, bass; and Josh Van Sant, drums.
