The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse handed Luther its first loss of the season here in the Regents Center. Following a 37-37 tie at halftime, the Eagles outscored the Norse 40-24 in the final 20 minutes en route to a 77-61 victory.
Following a Tayler Jenks three pointer that knotted up the game at 56-56 with 7:22 remaining, the Eagles outscored the Norse 21-5 en route to the victory.
The Eagles blistered the nets from behind the three-point line connecting on 10-of-25 attempts. Rachel Atchison, who led all scorers with 19 points, was 5-of-7 from behind the line.
Nellie Nelson, who returned to the basketball floor for the first time since Jan. 31 of last year, led the Norse with 14 points. Jenks and Kylie Romeo also produced double digits with 10 points each.
The loss gives Luther an overall record of 2-1, while La Crosse is now 1-1. The Norse will return to action this Saturday when they will host the Oles of St. Olaf College at 2:00 p.m.
