Luther placed third at the two-day University of St. Thomas Invitational. The Norse posted a team total of 588. St. Thomas won the team title with 998 points, followed by UW-Eau Claire with 748.
The 400 medley relay of Clare Slagel, Erin Connolly, Lexi Scharmer and Laura Boran set a meet record with a first place time of 4:03.18.
Individually, Slagel set pool and meet records in the 100 and 200 backstrokes. Slagel placed first in both events posting times of 58.14 and 2:05.67 respectively. Slagel also placed third in the 50 freestyle clocked at 25.53.
Lisbet Finseth also posted a first place finish in the 400 IM. Finseth touched the wall in 4:50.44, missing the pool record by .01 seconds. She also placed second in the 500 freestyle (5:26.08) and was sixth in the 200 IM (2:21.27).
Elizabeth Reed and Connolly also posted top-three finishes. Connolly placed third in the 100 freestyle (55.98). Redd placed second in the 1,650 freestyle (18:37.75) and third in the 500 freestyle (5:26.11). She also swam the 200 freestyle and placed eighth (2:05.92).
Zoe Johnson was the top performing diver for the Norse. Johnson place seventh in both the three-meter (182.20) and one-meter (174.15) competitions.
The Norse will return to action following the Christmas break when they will host Loras College on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 1:00 p.m.
