Luther let a 3-0 lead slip away and finished in a 3-3 double overtime tie with UW-Whitewater tonight under the lights.
The Norse jumped out to the 3-0 lead in the first 24 minutes of play. Benjamin Keller got things going for the Norse with his fourth goal of the season at 11:33 assisted by Rafael Broseghini (4). Thirteen minutes later, Broseghini extended the lead driving in his second goal of the year at 24:21 assisted by Aidan O'Driscoll (2). Thirty-five seconds later, Brunno Colon gave the Norse a 3-0 advantage with his third goal of the season unassisted.
Whitewater picked away at the lead, scoring in the 35th minute, 69th minute and then drove in the equalizer in the 70th minute.
Will Blain played the first 75 minutes for the Norse in front of the nets, but exited due to an injury. Carson Davenport played the final 34:50 and was credited with three saves.
The Norse outshot the Warhawks 23-15 and placed 10 shots on goal.
Tonight was the first overtime match for the Norse this season. They are now 4-3-1 overall. Whitewater's record is 5-3-3.
Luther returns to Iowa Conference play this Saturday, Sept. 30, when it travels to Buena Vista University. Start time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
