Luther posted its first shut out of the season, defeating Nebraska Wesleyan University 4-0 in the conference opener for both teams. The Norse dominated this match out shooting the Pairie Wolves 15-5 and placing six shots on goal.
Tristan Davenport scored what proved to be the game winner, his first goal of the season, at 54:09. Ben Keller followed with his third goal of the year at 64:22. Marc Shapiro and Rafael Broseghini completed the Norse scoring at 70:50 and 89:18 respectively. Both goals were the first of the season for both players.
Andrew Avram was credited with two assists, while Harry Merz, Victor Machado and Tyler Pieper were each credited with one.
Will Blain went the distance in front of the Norse nets and turned away four shots on goal.
The win gives Luther an overall record of 4-3. Nebraska Wesleyan fell to 5-4.
Luther returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 27 when it will host UW-Whitewater under the lights. Start time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
