For the first time in eight years, Luther and Gustavus faced each other on the soccer pitched this afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. The Norse won their second match in a row, defeating the Gusties 2-1.
Brunno Colon tallied three points for the afternoon, scoring his first goal of the season and giving the Norse an early lead at 9:05. Assisting on the play by Tyler Pieper (1).
Gustavus leveled the score early into the second half, when Arthur Parens found the back of the Luther net at 46:49.
Aidan O'Driscoll (1) was credited with the game winner at 53:17, assisted by Colon (1).
The Norse outshot the Gusties 13-3 and had nine corner kicks to the Gusties zero.
The win gives Luther an overall mark of 2-2, while Gustavus fell to 3-1.
Luther returns to action tomorrow when it will host St. Scholastica at 4:00 p.m.
