The Luther women’s tennis team opened its spring trip in Orlando, Florida on Saturday, March 23 with a match against Georgia College, ranked No. 18 in NCAA DII. The Norse won a pair of matches at the bottom of the lineup, but came up short in a 7-2 defeat.
Lola White-Baer and Hailey Johnson tallied the first point of the day for Luther with a (9-7) victory over Michelle Lingner and Sarah Murray at No. 3 doubles. Georgia College won at No. 1 and No. 2 to take a 2-1 lead into the singles matches.
Adriana DePaolis defeated Murray at No. 6 singles to score the other point for the Norse. After winning the first set 6-4, DePaolis had to rally from a 5-3 deficit in the second set, winning the final four games to grab a (6-4, 7-5) victory. Georgia College won the remaining five matches in straight sets to secure the team victory.
