The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse handed Luther its first loss of the season, a 69-58 decision tonight in La Crosse.
Trailing 35-31 at halftime, the Eagles took the lead for good six minutes into the second half. The difference in the ball game proved to take place at the free throw line where UWL connected on 17-of-19 attempts, while Luther made five trips to the charity stripe and made two.
Tyler Wedemeier was one shot away from perfect. Wedemeier, who recorded a double-double with a career high 24 points and collected 11 rebounds, missed just one shot the entire night. He was 11-of-12 from the field and 2-for-2 at the free throw line.
Zach Matos-Pritchard also tallied double figures with a career high 17 points.
The Eagles were led by the trio of Lucas Collom, Jeff Heiden and Michael Barrett. Collum and Heiden both tallied 18 points, while Barrett chipped in 13.
Luther is now 3-1, while La Crosse remains undefeated at 4-0.
Luther will travel to UW-Stout on Wednesday, Nov. 28 for a non-conference game that will begin at 7:00 p.m.
