Luther placed third at the two-day University of St. Thomas Invitational. The Norse posted a point total of 390, finishing behind St. Thomas with 1210.5 and UW-Eau Claire that was second with 893 points.
Tim Cutler and Zack Kuntz posted the highest individual finishes for the Norse. Cutler placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.69), while Kuntz placed second in the 50 freestyle (22.17). Cutler went on to post a top-five finish with a fifth place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:20.68).
David Carius tallied three top-five finishes. Carius placed fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:50.55) and was fifth in both the 500 freestyle (5:03.23) and the 200 IM (2:08.12).
Jason Orvis placed fourth in the 200 backstroke (2:03.71) and fifth in the 100 backstroke (55.81).
Orvis also swam the first leg of the 400 medley relay that placed fourth (3:41.61). Cutler swam the second leg, followed by Eric Hild and Kuntz.
The Norse will return to action following the Christmas break when they will host Loras College on Saturday, Jan. 5 and 1:00 p.m.
