Luther split its opening series at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Arizona with the Concordia University (WI). The Norse won game one 12-2 and dropped game two by a score of 8-0.
In game one, Alec Knop went the distance on the mound striking out 11 of the 28 batters he faced. After giving up two runs in the first, Knop held Concordia to just three hits the rest of the game.
The Norse blew this game open scoring seven runs in the top of the second. Czenvic Rojer capped off the inning with a three-run double. Rojer also drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in the sixth. Andy Briggs also had a big game going 3-for-4 with four RBI as the lead-off hitter.
Concordia's Andrew Heideman threw a seven hit shutout leading the Falcons to an 8-0 victory in the nightcap.
The Falcons scored four in the first, two in the second and two in the sixth. Both runs in the second and sixth were produced with two-run home runs.
The split gives Luther an overall record of 4-2. Concordia is now 2-2. The Norse will continue their spring trip to Tucson win one nine inning game against Lawrence University (WI) and Valley City State University on Tuesday, March 24.
