Day One Recap: Luther sits in second place with 176 points after day one of the 2014 Liberal Arts Championships. Franklin College leads the field of 10 teams with 212 points, while Morningside College is third with 151.
Two second place finishes were posted by the Norse this evening. Jason Orvis finished second in the 50 freestyle (21.30), edged at the wall by Cole Malin of Morningside (21.12).
David Carius (5th - 4:50.75), Weinberg (6th - 4:51.86) and Sam Raiche (7th - 4:56.68) advanced to the finals of the 500 freestyle. Sund (6th - 1:59.24) and Hagen (8th - 2:02.89) did the same in the 200 IM.
The 200 freestyle relay foursome of Orvis, Sund, Hagen and Ryley Kramka started tonight's action placing fourth (1:26.79).
Day Two Recap: Luther remained in second place after day two of the Liberal Arts Championships. Franklin College remained in first place with 484 points, followed by the Norse with 387.
David Carius picked up Luther's first gold medal placing first in the 400 IM (4:12.67). Jacob Sund placed second (4:14.29) and Chandler Roberson was fifth (4:30.53).
Jason Orvis also stepped onto the medal stand placing second in the 100 backstroke (52.59).
Both the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay placed second. Orvis, Sund, Jon Hagen and Ryley Kramka (1:36.73) swam the 200 medley relay, while Sam Weinberg, Sam Raiche, Seth Vander Horst and Carius finished the evening in the 800 freestyle (7:10.11).
Hagen and Weinberg advanced to the finals of the 100 fly and 200 freestyle respectively. Hagen placed fifth (53.48) and Weinberg placed fourth (1:44.48).
Day Three Recap: Luther wrapped up the 2014 Liberal Arts Championships with a second place finish, its third runner-up finish in as many years. Franklin College won the team title with 723 points, Luther was second with 572 and Morningside was third with 458.
Sam Raiche, Jacob Sund and Jason Orvis all reached the medal stand today. Raiche placed second in the 200 fly (2:01.03), Sund placed third in the 200 breaststroke (2:13.47), and Orvis placed third in the 200 backstroke (1:57.05).
Also posting top-eight finished included, Jon Hagen in the 200 backstroke (4th - 2:02.41), Kellen Glynn in the 200 fly (7th - 2:04.01), Raymond Dulaney in the 200 breastroke (6th - 2:15.00), David Carius in the 1,650 freestyle (4th - 16:53.76) and Sam Weinberg in the 1,650 freestyle (8th - 17:32.24).
The 400 freestyle relay foursome of Weinberg, Carius, Ryley Kramka and Orvis capped off the three-days of competition with a fourth place finish (3:12.69).
