Luther finished sixth of 10 teams at the Rochester Invitational hosted by St. Cloud State University. University of South Dakota won the team title with 1,724 points. St. Cloud State was second at 1,637 and UW-La Crosse was third with 1,074. Luther finished with 717.
Clare Slagel headlined Luther's top finishers posting two first place individual titles and a third place finish the 500 freestyle (5:07.31). Slagel won both the 100 backstroke (56.24) and 200 backstroke (2:02.03).
Also advancing to the A-Finals were Sam Kraft in the 500 freestyle placing fifth (5:12.71), Jackie Hughes in both the 400 IM placing sixth (4:39.25) and the 200 IM placing seventh (2:13.60), and Lexi Scharmer who placed third in the 100 fly (58.49).
The Norse also placed well in the relay events during the three days of competition. They were fourth in the 800 free relay (7:50.11), seventh 200 free relay (1:42.08), eighth in the 400 medley relay (3:58.23), fifth in the 200 medley relay (1:49.19) and sixth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:37.81).
Luther's next competition will be a dual at home with Loras College on Jan. 3. Start time will be 1:00 p.m.
