The Luther men’s tennis team ran into its toughest foe of the season at the Quad City Tennis Club in Moline, Ill. The Norse faced off with nationally ranked University of Chicago and was shut out by the Maroons by a 9-0 margin.
Chicago won all three doubles matches by a score of (8-3) and then secured victories in all six of the singles positions in straight sets. Torstein Jystad had the closest match for Luther, dropping a (6-4, 6-4) decision to Deepak Sabada, the No. 3 ranked player in the Central Region, at No. 2 singles. Kyle Appel also performed well in a (6-2, 6-3) loss to Ankur Bhargava at No. 3 singles.
The Norse now drop to 5-2 overall this season.
