Luther easily won the team title of the 2014 Norse Relays posting a point total of 229. Cornell was second with 89, Clarke was third with 85 and Coe was fourth with 63.
Top-10 performances were posted by the 4 x 1600 relay and Dan Etter, Nick Arnold and Dan Blattner all in the hammer throw. Tyler Broadwell, Austin Bauer, Sam Zook and Scott Mittman won the 4 x 1600 with a time of 17:45.50 that ranks sixth all-time. Etter finished second in the hammer throw to unattached Andrew Brueggen (183-9). Etter posted a mark of 161-8, six inches farther then his previous best, and ranks second all-time. Arnold's (140-10) and Blattner's (134-10) marks rank sixth and eighth respectively. Blattner's previous best was 134-2.
Individual first place finishes were recorded by Erik Queoff in the pole vault (13-11), Caleb Freund in the long jump (20-11 1/4), Sam Stokes-Cerkvenik in the 400 hurdles (56.26) and Soren Thompson in the 3,000 steeplechase (10:45.25).
The 4 x 100 and 4 x 800 relays also posted first place finishes. Cooper Nelson, Andrew McCarthy, Cole Hocker and Peter Krumm won the 4 x 100 clocked at 43.75. Parker Beard, Mitchell Stenoien, Aaron Weckworth and Greg Scott won the 4 x 800 with a time of 8:15.49.
The Norse will travel to Augustana (IL) for the Meet of Champions Friday, April 18. Start time is scheduled for Noon.
