For the second time in as many matches Luther defeated a team from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MAIC) by a score of 3-2. This afternoon the 3-2 victory over St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., improved Luther's overall record to 4-1-0.
Trailing the Oles 1-0 at halftime, J W Slauson(1) evened the score off a header by James Garcia-Prats (3) 39 seconds into the second half. Brock Arend (2) gave the Norse a 2-1 lead at 60:51 assisted by Garcia-Prats (4) and Logan Martell (1). Josh Parris extended the Norse lead to 3-1 at 81:51 unassisted. His goal proved to be the game winner, as St. Olaf's Torbjorn Morkeberg (2) scored in the 85th minute.
Peter Wright went the distance in the nets and turned away five Ole shots on goal.
Luther, ranked No. 22 by D3soccer.com, will return home to play UW-Platteville on Wednesday, Sept. 18. This match will begin at 7:30 p.m.
