Luther split the first two games of the four-game series at Central, winning game one 4-1 and losing the nightcap 10-0 in eight innings.
In game one, the Norse scored four unearned runs in the first inning thanks to two Dutch errors. The Norse managed just two hits off of Dutch starter Blake Judkins (1-2). Alec Knop pitched another solid complete game. Knop allowed one run on nine hits, walked two and struck out five. He is now 4-1 with an ERA of 1.89.
Eric Pittman, Carlos Pineda, Matt Larson and Jon Opdahl each had a hit.
The Dutch held a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh, when they exploded for five runs on three hits. Andrew O'Toole capped off the inning with a grand slam home run. The Dutch scored two more in the eighth.
The split gives Luther an Iowa Conference record of 4-10, 10-14 overall. Central improved to 6-8 in league play, 14-11 overall.
The two teams will wrap up the series tomorrow. The start time has been moved to 11:00 a.m.
