Three B-Cut qualifying marks and four school records were set by the Norse at the two-day St. Cloud State University Rochester Mid-Season Invite en route to a fifth place finish from the field of 10 teams.
Clare Slagel posted three individual titles, set two individual school records and also helped with two more school records in the 200 and 400 medley relays. Slagel won the 100 and 200 backstrokes as well as the 500 freestyle. Her time of 1:58.61 in the prelims of the 200 back was a new school record by nearly a second.
Leading off the 400 medley relay, Slagel posted a time of 55.12 in her 100 backstroke split, that was also a school record. Erin Connolly, Lexi Scharmer and Emily Anderson followed Slagel and the foursome finished second with a time of 3:51.29. This foursome also posted a time of 1:45.31 in the 200 medley relay. Both times were not only new school records, but also B-Cut qualifying marks for the NCAA III National Championships. The 200 medley relay time currently ranks sixth in the nation, while the 400 medley relay time ranks eighth.
Connolly also posted an individual B-Cut qualifying time in the 100 breaststroke of 1:05.50 and placed second. Scharmer and Jackie Hughes also advanced to the A-Finals in the 100 fly and 400 IM placing fifth and fourth respectively.
B-Final qualifiers included Anderson in the 50 and 100 freestyle and the 100 butterfly; Connolly in the 200 IM; Elizabeth Reed in the 200 freestyle and Sarah Pospisil in the 400 IM. Hughes and Reed also posted top-10 finishes in the 1650 freestyle finishing seventh and eighth respectively.
The Norse will be off until Jan. 4 when they will travel to Loras College for a dual meet that will begin at 1:00 p.m.
