Luther's hopes for making the six-team Iowa Conference Tournament were dashed tonight as Central College defeated the Norse 70-57 in the Regents Center.
After being down 20 (30-10) in the first half, the Norse clawed their way back and trailed the Dutch by only seven at intermission (40-33). The Norse continued to chip away at the Dutch lead in the second frame and pulled within two (48-46) with just under 12 minutes remaining. It proved to be as close as the Norse would come the rest of the way.
Luther's offensive effort was lead by Meagan Koepnick who dropped in 13, while Taylor Johnson and Logan Hjerleid both added 10.
Leading the Dutch was Kenzie Vander Molen, who lead all scorers with 25.
With the loss Luther moved to 2-11 in conference play and 11-13 overall. Central advanced to 3-10, 11-13 overall.
The Norse will wrap up the season this Saturday when they will host the Spartans from Dubuque University at 2:00 p.m.
