Luther fell to 3-5 in Iowa Conference play after dropping a twin bill to Loras this afternoon in Dubuque. The Duhawks defeated the Norse 6-5 and 14-8 and improved to 5-3 in league play. The two teams will wrap up the four-game series tomorrow.
In game one, Brian Paulsrud drove in four of Luther's five runs. Paulsrud drove in two runs in the top of the fifth on a double down the left field line. In the top of the seventh, he hit a two-run home run to left center field and finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Andy Briggs also had a multiple hit game going 3-for-4 from the lead-off slot.
Eric DeSousa hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth that capped off a four-run inning for the Duhawks.
Loras jumped out to a 10-1 lead after four, added a run in the seventh and three in the eighth in the nightcap. The Norse scored one run in both the first and sixth frames, four in the seventh and two in the eighth.
Czenvic Rojer and Paulsrud led the offensive attack producing five and three RBI respectively. Rojer was 3-for-4 and scored twice, while Paulsrud was 2-for-5 and scored once. Rojer hit a three-run home run in the seventh and drove in two more runs with a single in the eighth. Paulsrud drove in a run in the first on a double to left field and hit his second home run of the afternoon in the seventh.
