Luther fell to 3-7 in the Iowa Conference after dropping the first two games of the four-game series against Simpson College in Indianola. The Norse were defeated by the Storm 2-1 and 7-6 in 10 innings.
In game one, all of the damage on the score board took place in the third inning. Luther took a 1-0 lead in the top half of the frame when Aldon Severson drove in Andy Briggs with a single to center field. Thanks to a Norse error, the Storm scored two unearned runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Alec Knop (1-3) was credited with the loss. Knop threw five complete innings, allowed five hits and struck out one.
Mitch Knippenberg, who was 3-for-5, drove in two runs in the third and a run in the ninth, that sent the game into the extra frame.
The two losses drops Luther's overall record to 7-11. Simpson is now 3-7 in the IIAC, 7-12 overall.
Tomorrow's double header is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
