Simpson College defeated Luther 83-60 in Cowles Fieldhouse tonight. The Storm led 45-30 at halftime and went on to outscore the Norse 38-30 in the second half. The Norse shot 35.6 percent from the field and were out rebounded 42-34.
Jared Nicolaisen led a trio of Norse that tallied double figures. Nicolaisen was credited with 12 points, while both Ray Whitlock and James Kappus produced 10 each. Aaron Blumberg fell one-point shy and finished the night with nine.
Conor Riordan led the Storm with a game high 24 points. Sam Amsbaugh also produced double digits with 18.
The loss gives Luther an Iowa Conference mark of 0-4, 4-8 overall. Simpson leveled its league record to 2-2, 6-6 overall.
Luther travels to Nebraska Weslayan University on Saturday, Jan. 6. Tip-off is slated for 4:00 p.m.
