Luther traveled to Siebens Fieldhouse and was defeated 76-75 by Buena Vista University. In a game that had 15 lead changes, Buena Vista's Cole Darrow scored what proved to be the game winner with eight ticks left on the clock. Darrow's bucket capped off a 4-0 run by the league leaders in the final 51 seconds to record the come-from-behind victory.
Both teams shot 44 percent. Luther was 11-of-27 from behind the three-point line, while Buena Vista was 7-of-26. The free throw line proved to be the difference as the Beavers made 13-of-19 attempts and the Norse were 2-for-4.
Christian Wright and Jack Woolems recorded career highs with 19 and 12 points respectively. Jake Martin also recorded double digits with 18.
Buena Vista's Kenney Drey recorded a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Darrow was the only other player in double figures with 16.
The loss gives Luther an Iowa Conference mark of 2-5, 6-12 overall. Buena Vista remains in a tie for first place with Coe College at 6-1.
The Norse return to action on Saturday when they will travel to Coe for a game that is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
