Luther set up an opportunity to play for the Iowa Conference championship, defeating Wartburg College 67-57 tonight in the Regents Center. The victory, combined with the University of Dubuque defeating Buena Vista University 90-75 tonight, sets up a battle between the Norse and the Spartans for the outright title this Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in Dubuque. Tonight's win was the 20th of the year for the Norse, the first time they have posted 20 wins since the 2006-07 campaign.
The Norse forced the Knights to turn the ball over 21 times that led 19 points. Both teams shot just under 40 percent. Luther led 31-25 at halftime and never trailed in the second frame.
The Norse were led by the trio of Tayler Jenks, Moran Lonning and Meagan Koepnick. Jenks led all scorers pouring in a career high 19 points. Jenks was 7-of-9 from the field and 4-for-5 from the charity stripe. Lonning tallied 13 and Koepnick was credited with 11.
Wartburg was led by Kailey Kladivo with 11 and Katie Sommer with 10. Morgan Neuendorf and Bobbie Burrows both chipped in eight.
Luther has won five in a row and is 10-3 in conference action. Wartburg fell to 5-8, 14-10.
