Luther traveled to St. Joseph, Minn., to face College of St. Benedict for the final non-conference match of the year. The Norse were defeated by a final of 3-1. St. Ben's won sets one and two by scores of 25-13, 25-22 and set four 25-23. Luther's lone win came in set three by a final of 25-23.
Luther posted an attack percentage of .110 and ran into a CSB defense that posted 10 team blocks. On the flip side, CSB tallied an attack percentage of .221 and was led by the triple threat attack of Madison Weiss, Briana Schmiesing and Liz Schultz. Weiss produced a match high 13 kills, while both Schmiesing and Schultz were both credited with 10.
Emma Veum was the only Norse to produce double digits in kills with 12. Morgan Towne and Sam Schroeder were next with nine each and Karissa Kime added eight.
Both Sam Sixta and CSM setter Megan Pekarek dished out 41 assists. Natalie Cote led the Norse with 19 digs. Sixta produced a double-double recorded 12 digs. Kime also had 12 digs and Anna Larson was credited with 11.
The loss gives Luther an overall record of 13-9, while CSB improved to 13-8.
Luther has three macthes remaining on the 2017 schedule, all are against Iowa Conference opponents. The Norse travel south next Friday, Oct. 20 and will square off against Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 21, the Norse travel to Central College for a match that will begin at 11:00 a.m.
