Luther fell to 2-4 in the Iowa Conference after dropping a twin bill at University of Dubuque this afternoon. The Spartans defeated the Norse 7-6 and 6-4.
In game one, a walk-off double by the Spartans Ainsley Billesbach secured a 7-6 victory. The Spartans scored three runs in the fourth, three in the sixth and one in the seventh. Luther took a 4-0 lead in the fourth, regained the lead 5-3 in the top of the sixth and tied the game 6-6 after a Carli Radil home run in the top of the seventh.
Miranda McCay tallied two of Luther's six hits. McCay and Lindsey Uphoff both drove in a run, while Kayla Hatting drove in two.
Becca Girvan (9-3) was credited with the loss. Girvan allowed seven earned runs on seven hits, walked eight and stuck out four.
Alise Miller and Katie Wieland all drove in a run. Topanga Skiles was credited with the loss. Skiles allowed five runs on four hits in three innings or work.
Luther fell to sixth place in the Iowa Conference standings with a mark of 2-4. Dubuque improved to 4-2 and sits in a tie for second place with Central.
The Norse will return to action on Saturday, April 12 when they will host No. 9 Coe College. This twin bill will begin at 2:00 p.m.
