The Luther women’s tennis team was a 9-0 winner over Dubuque. On the day that saw the Norse use 13 players in the varsity lineup over the course of two matches, Luther polished off the Spartans while only dropping 16 games.
Jenna Myers and Olivia Heitz maintained their unbeaten record in doubles, quickly scoring an (8-0) victory over Stephanie LoCasto and Marissa Rutenbeck at No. 1. Adriana DePaolis and Molly Brown also won decisively, defeating Ashley Schlueter and Janine Wegner by an (8-1) margin at No. 2. Megan Wachholz and Kylie Kruse completed the doubles sweep with an (8-2) win at No. 3, beating Chelsea Borden and Aoi Karino.
DePaolis maintained her strong play with a (6-0, 6-0) win over Borden at No. 1. Heitz at No. 3 and Kruse at No. 6 each won by a (6-1, 6-0) margin with Heitz defeating LoCasto and Kruse knocking off Wegner. Wachholz only dropped three games in a (6-0, 6-3) victory against Karino at No. 4 with Brown doing the same, winning (6-1, 6-2) over Rutenbeck at No. 5. Myers withstood a first set rally from Schlueter at No. 2 to grab a (6-3, 6-2) victory.
Luther improves to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the Iowa Conference. The Norse will travel to Gustavus Adolphus for the annual ITA Tournament this weekend.
