Luther remains tied atop the Iowa Conference standings following a 93-86 overtime victory over Simpson College this afternoon in Indianola.
In a game that had 10 ties, the Norse outscored the Storm 21-14 in the extra frame, thanks to a 10-for-10 effort from the charity stripe. Simpson's Charles Swain sent the game into overtime with a three-point bucket at the buzzer.
Tyler Wedemeier had a monster game, posting his seventh double-double of the season. Wedemeier scored a career high 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Michael Crocker and Zach Matos-Pritchard also tallied double digits with 19 and 10 respectively. John Androus was one point shy of double figures and matched Wedemeier with 10 rebounds.
All five of Simpson's starters recorded double digits led by Swain with 28.
The victory also secured a spot for the six-team Iowa Conference Tournament. The Norse have qualified for the tournament for the 11th time in the 15-year history of the tournament and the third year in a row.
The Norse are tied with Buena Vista University for the league lead with a record of 8-2. Luther's overall record is now 15-6. Simpson falls to 2-8 in conference play, 6-15 overall.
