Luther won its conference opener over Loras College 64-57 this afternoon in the Regents Center. Luther has now won five of the last six meetings between these two schools.
Trailing 20-13 with a little over seven minutes remaining in the first half, the Norse went on an 8-0 run in the next two minutes of action, to take take the lead for good. The Norse led by as many as 11 midway through the second half.
Tyler Wedemeier led all scorers with 17 points. He also collected eight rebounds and was credited with three blocked shots. Cale Austin provided a career high 12 points off the bench and Michael Crocker chipped in 10. Austin was 3-for-5 from behind the three-point line, while Crocker was 2-for-3. Crocker also led the team with four assists.
Aaron Schueller was the only Duhawk to reach double digits with 14. Jake Rutan and Luke Barry both fell one point shy with nine.
The win gives Luther an overall record of 8-4, Loras falls to 5-7.
The Norse will return to action next Wednesday, Jan. 9 when they will host the Storm of Simpson College at 8:00 p.m. All of Luther's home games are video streamed.
