Ten years ago, Abigail Washburn bought a banjo to take along when she moved to China to study law. As an anticipated farewell to America, she took a road trip down the East Coast to learn to play that banjo—and was offered a record deal along the way. Since then, this singing clawhammer banjo player has been sharing her gorgeous, joyful sound with audiences internationally. Her lush combination of Appalachian and Chinese folk music with indie rock influences is unexpected yet perfectly harmonious. She will be joined by multi-instrumentalist Kai Welch for an intimate program
