The Luther women’s tennis team got back on the winning track with a 6-3 victory over Carthage to begin the team’s spring trip in Orlando, Fla. The Norse improve to 12-7 overall.
Katy Lindstrom and Elise Allen were (8-1) winners over Erin Henrickson and Amanda Bizub at No. 3, giving Luther a quick 1-0 lead. Cassandra Chalhoub and Lola White-Baer led 5-4 before winning the final three games and picking up an (8-4) victory against Bari Reynolds and Kristin Naidicz at No. 2. Cami Czech and Katie Howe trailed 1-6 at No. 1, but rallied all the way back to 7-7 before falling (9-7) to Hollis and Haleigh McPeek.
Leading 2-1, Luther’s bottom four spots all won in straight sets to secure the victory. Chalhoub dispatched Haleigh McPeek (6-0, 6-2) at No. 3, and White-Baer pushed back Naidicz (6-3, 6-3) at No. 4. Howe was a (6-1, 6-3) winner against Henrickson at No. 5 while Lindstrom raced past Bizub (6-1, 6-1) at No. 6. Elise Allen drop a hard fought match (3-6, 6-4, (10-6)) to Reynolds at No. 2 and Hollis McPeek beat Czech (6-2, 6-1) to account for the final score.
