The University of Dubuque defeated Luther tonight at the Stoltz Sports Center by a final of 84-71. The Spartans led 39-37 at halftime and outscored the Norse 13-4 in the first four minutes of the second half and never trailed the rest of the way.
The Spartans did the majority of their damage from behind the three-point line connecting on 11-of-30 attempts. Marcus McDaniel led this long distance attack with five treys en route to 24 points. Luther was 4-of-22 with all four three-point buckets produced by James Kappus. Kappus finished with a game high 26 points, matching his career high. Jared Nicolaisen also had a good outing producing 18 points on 7-of-19 shooting.
The loss gives Luther a league record of 0-15, 5-19 overall. Dubuque improved to 7-8 in the IIAC, 15-9 overall.
Luther will wrap up the season this Saturday at home when it will host Buena Vista University. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
