Eating Your Yard: Incorporating Edibles Into the Landscape

  • Date: Monday, June 2, 2014
  • Time: 12:15 pm – 1:15 pm
  • Location: Luther College, Location TBD

Maybe you are looking for a way to grow some of your own food, but aren’t crazy about the idea of tilling up your lawn. Edible landscaping is becoming popular across the country and world as people realize the benefits of eating more fresh food and try to find spaces to grow it. Jeff Scott has worked with many clients in the Decorah area who are seeking ways to grow more edible food in their pre-existing landscapes. Whether you are looking to plant grapes on a pergola or plop a parsley plant in with your petunias, this class is for you. Edible plants can be perennial (persist year to year) such as blueberries, raspberries, strawberries or annual (need to be replanted each year) such as kale, parsley, basil. You likely already spent a lot of time maintaining your yard. Why not add in a few things you can eat? Edible landscaping is especially fun for children.  Come learn how to get started.
