After dropping a tight match in the morning, the Norse rebounded with a 9-0 sweep of Edgewood in the afternoon match. Luther only dropped eight games in doubles while grabbing a 3-0 advantage and then were able to win several tight singles sets in route to the victory.
Maggie Helms and Caroline Treis were winners at No. 1 by an (8-2) score over Anna Miles and Laura Olsen. Lola White-Baer and Haley Johnson rolled to an (8-3) win against Morgan Wilson and Brooke McBain at No. 2. Jenna Myers and Olivia Heitz also won by an (8-3) margin, defeating Ellie Wilkie and Sarah Rendon.
Helms led the way in singles with a (6-0, 6-0) triumph over Miles at No. 2. Treis clinched the win for the Norse with a (6-3, 6-0) victory against Kristen Boone at No. 5. White-Baer was a (6-3, 6-2) over Wilson at No. 1 while Heitz earned tallied her third win of the day with a (6-4, 6-2) decision against Ashli Paulson at No. 6. Myers fought off a late charge from Olsen at No. 4 to win (6-0, 6-4), and DePaolis completed the sweep by edging Wilkie (6-1, 7-5).
Luther is now 1-1 overall this season. The Norse open Iowa Conference play with a road match against Buena Vista University Tuesday, Sept. 3.
