The Luther women’s tennis team extended its win streak in the conference to three in a row with an 8-1 victory over Central in Pella, Iowa. The Norse grabbed all three doubles points and then won the bottom five singles slots to secure the road victory.
Jenna Myers and Olivia Heitz improved to 10-0 in dual meets this fall with an (8-2) win over Anna Bowser and Ashlyn Huegel at No. 2 doubles. Hailey Johnson and Lauren Welch partnered together for the first time at No. 3 and were (8-3) winners against Sarah Montgomery and Katie Todd. Maggie Helms and Caroline Treis had a much tougher match at No. 1, rallying to win (9-8 (8)) over Angie Allgood and Megan Davis to complete the doubles sweep.
Myers followed up her doubles performance with a (6-0, 6-0) dismantling of Huegel at No. 4 singles. Heitz was also on her game in singles, winning (6-3, 6-0) over Montgomery at No. 5. Megan Wachholz came out firing in a (6-1, 6-1) victory against Todd at No. 6. Treis was also a winner in straight sets at No. 3, defeating Bowser (6-4, 6-0). Adriana DePaolis tallied the final point for the Norse with a (4-6, 6-4, (11-9)) win over Davis at No. 2. The Dutch tallied its lone point at No. 1 where Allgood knocked off Helms (7-6 (6), 6-0)).
The Norse improve to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the Iowa Conference with the win.
