Luther secured its first winning season in four years thanks to a 71-52 victory over Central College in the Regents Center. The Norse improved to 5-6 in the Iowa Conference, 13-9 overall. Central fell to 3-8, 10-12 overall.
Carrie Kilen led the Norse with a double-double, posting a career high 13 points and collecting a career high 14 rebounds. Tayler Jenks and Kylie Romeo also established career highs scoring 14 and 10 respectively. Meagan Koepnick was the fourth Norse to reach double digits with 14. Koepnick was 4-for-5 from beyond the three-point line. Jenks was 3-for-5 and Romeo was 2-for-3 from this same distance. Taylor Johnson, who spent most of the night double teamed, chipped in nine points and matched Kilen with 14 boards.
Kenzie Vander Molen was the only Dutch player to reach double figures with 17.
The Norse took the lead for good four minutes into the first half and led 29-22 at the intermission. The Norse held Central to 34 percent and won the battle of the boards 48-35.
Luther returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 9 when it will travel to Buena Vista University. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. This game will be audio streamed.
