Nationally ranked #3 Luther started the 2012 campaign with a sweep of Hamline University this afternoon at the Augsburg Dome in Minneapolis. The Norse defeated the Pipers 10-2 in six innings and 8-0 in five.

In game one, the Norse scored 10 unanswered runs, after the Pipers put two runs on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning. Six of Luther's runs came in the third, three as the results of a double by Shari Huber

Abby Christian homered to center field to put two more runs on the board in the fourth. 

Both Huber and Christian were credited with four RBI. 

Becca Girvan was credited with the win allowing two runs on four hits in six innings of work. She walked four and struck out eight.

In game two, Morgan Franklin tallied five RBI, four coming on a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning. Lauran Snyder also went yard hitting a solo shot to left field in the fourth frame.

Huber, Snyder, Kelsey Kittleson, Christian, Franklin and Paige Comentino all tallied multiple hits. Comentino was a perfect 3-for-3.

Kelsey Rose picked up her first collegiate victory going the distance in the circle. Rose allowed four hits, walked two and struck out four.

Box Score

Luther (2-0) will return to action tomorrow when it will face Augsburg for a double header that will begin at 5:00 p.m.
