Advanced Portfolio Evaluators

A satisfactory “advanced portfolio” is a requirement for completion of the Luther College licensure program.

To receive credit for the portfolio, the candidate must redo any portfolio that is not satisfactory.

Each candidate is assigned a portfolio evaluator prior to the start of the student teaching semester.  Usually, but not always, the advanced portfolio evaluator is the person who evaluated the “developing portfolio.”

For the student due date timelines, see the information provided the candidates:

  • Fall Student Teachers: Dates to Remember for the Advanced Portfolio—link
  • Spring Student Teachers: Dates to Remember for the Advanced Portfolio—link

The final due date is dependent upon the length of a candidates student teaching and a date by which the licensure office needs the certification of satisfactory portfolio completion.  Candidates can expect the licensure officer to begin processing their application for licensure as soon as student teaching has ended and they have completed all the requirements for licensure. It complicates the work of the licensure officer and delays the “application for licensure” process when the licensure officer has not received all the necessary documentation for the application.  Some candidates have the opportunity for teaching positions and sub opportunities as soon as they complete student teaching, but they need a licensure in hand to be hired for those opportunities.

See below the dates on which portfolio evaluators need to submit the paper that documents “satisfactory completion” of the “advanced portfolio.  These dates have been chosen relative to the various student teaching completion dates, with the consideration of when candidates can expect application processing to begin.
