Pedro Dos Santos

Pedro dos SantosPedro dos Santos
I am a Visiting Assistant Professor at Luther College, teaching classes in Political Science and International Studies. My research focus is Latin America and I have been working especially on the issue of women's political representation in Brazil.

My dissertation looks at the election of women to Brazil's state legislatures. My current projects expand on the discussion about women's representation by exploring the election of women to the Chamber of Deputies (Brazil's federal lower house) and the role of Dilma Rouseff, Brazil's first female president, on the representation of women in politics in the country.

Outside the classroom I enjoy playing and watching basketball (especially the Jayhawks!) and watching any sport in which a Brazilian is competing. I also like hiking and discovering all that Northeast Iowa has to offer with my wife and our brand new puppy.
