Summer Seminars at Luther — June 16–21
You are invited to apply for a unique summer seminar for high school juniors and seniors held on the Luther College campus. Our Summer Science Symposium and Business Seminar are designed to provide an intensive summer experience for students who have traditionally been underrepresented in higher education. Specifically, the program is targeted to ethnic minority students and/or first-generation college students who show great promise for college entrance and eventual service to their professions and communities.
The Summer Seminars began in 1995 to provide a challenging experience for students interested in careers in the sciences or business. The intensive six-day program, funded by Luther College, is designed to provide students with hands-on experiences. Students will work with professors and Luther College students on real research projects, participate in classes and laboratories, and may conduct site visits to science or business-related companies.
SELECTION
The selection process for the seminars is competitive. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA in high school and a class rank in the top 50 percent. Applicants should anticipate graduating from high school in 2014 or 2015.
Applications were accepted until May 20, 2013. The application process is currently closed. Health Consent Forms and Photo Release forms can be found at the bottom of the page.
COST
Students selected to participate in the seminars must pay a $50.00 participation fee, due no later than June 16. Those traveling from Chicago to Luther via the Luther bus must pay $75.00 which includes both transportation and participation fees.
