Graduates

Going home? – You have a 60 day grace period to pack, travel, see your friends before you leave.

Graduate school in your future?  - Make sure you and your new school have agreed on a SEVIS transfer date (before your 60 day grace period expires) and contact Amy or Wintlett to set up the transfer in SEVIS.

Working (or hope to) under OPT? – Make sure your application is filed and received by USCIS before your 60 day grace period is over.  This year that would be July 15th.  See Amy or Wintlett for help and advice.

Having trouble finding a job? – Remember, you can do volunteer work or an unpaid internship, related to your major, but there’s a 90 day limit on unemployment.

Things you MUST do!

·         Report your current address to your DSO (Amy or Wintlett) within 10 days of a move.

·         Report the name and address of your employer to your DSO.

·         Report any periods of unemployment while on OPT – there is a 90 day limit of days of unemployment.

Do Not Work Illegally!!!

For non-graduates, consider CPT (Curricular Practical Training) in your major.  Start with the Career Center to seek internships.

Traveling out of the U.S. for the summer?  Plan ahead to secure the following documents:

1 – Valid I-20 signed by DSO in the last 6 months.

2-      Letter of good standing

5-      Receipt of payment of fees
