Farewell from Amy Webber

Farewell to Seniors:

It’s that time of year again.  With mixed emotions, we receive lists of prospective students from International Admissions, and the list of graduates from the Registrar’s office.  It’s exciting to see the names and countries of the new students who are likely to come here, but we’re saddened to see students leave, as they graduate and move on with their lives.

Some of our graduates we haven’t seen very much since orientation four years ago, and we hope that’s a good sign that you’ve learned your way around, created community, and are doing just fine.  Others we’ve helped through struggles and loss, mistakes and growth, and we’ve watched you come out on top with the skills to succeed.  We’re proud of your achievements.  Many of you have won awards, created projects, improved the world just a little bit, and will continue to do so.  We’re proud of you, too!  And then there  are those who have become our LDC family, either working with us in the LDC or having made it “home”, hanging out, studying, chatting with Hans or napping.  (Feet on the floor, please!).  You will leave an empty place in our office, a gap in the conversation, a hole in our days that you have regularly filled with a smile or a hug.

We don’t want to lose track of you in the future!  We want to celebrate your successes, brag up your accomplishments, and some day maybe, meet your babies.  Keep in touch and congratulations!!
