Brad Miller, Luther College associate professor of computer science and 1986 alumnus, and his GroupLens colleagues have been awarded the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) 2010 Software System Award for GroupLens Collaborative Filtering Recommender Systems.

With a little assistance from the Estrem Endowment, Brett Hazen and Drew Baumann were able to fly to San Francisco and participate in the Boxee Twilio hackathon.

In January 2010, nine Luther students and Professor Brad Miller spent two weeks in the San Francisco and Silicon Valley area. During this time, they visited companies large and small, visited with venture capitalists, marketers, public relations people and of course computer scientists.
